FFA Cookbook

Dear FFA State Leaders,

My name is Amy Glaser, and I am an acquisitions editor with Voyageur Press, an official licensee of the National FFA Organization. We are very excited about our next book project, which is an FFA Cookbook.

The FFA Cookbook will consist of a collection of recipes from FFA chapters, members (current and former), advisors and Friends of FFA. I encourage you to pass along this information by forwarding the attached electronic letter to FFA chapters, alumni affiliates and booster groups in your state to aid in our search for recipes! You can also direct people to (website to be determined) for complete details about the book and how to submit recipes.

This cookbook will include approximately 500 recipes, plus information on National FFA, chapters, programs and members — all highlighted with some great photos of FFA members and activities. We are asking for your help in gathering recipes in the following categories:

Appetizers
Salads
Soups and Sandwiches
Meats, Main Dishes and Casseroles
Vegetables and Side Dishes
Breads
Cookies and Bars
Cakes, Desserts and Pies

Don’t be shy – send us as many recipes as you would like! All we ask is that you submit your recipes using the following format:

– Name of Recipe and Category
– Ingredients (quantity/measurement)
– Procedures (all those little tricks to turn out the best recipe, such as precise oven temperature; stir, do not beat; refrigerate for 10 minutes; etc.)

Then, we need to know who and where you are! Along with your recipe submissions, please send us the following information:

Chapters: Include your chapter name and ID, chapter advisor’s name, chapter address including city and state, and e-mail address.

Local FFA Alumni Affiliates and FFA Booster Clubs: Include the name of your alumni affiliate or booster club, contact name, full address including city and state, e-mail address, and the name(s) of the FFA chapter(s) you support.

FFA State Associations, State Foundations and State Alumni Affiliates: Include the name of the organization and your affiliation, contact name, full address including city and state, and e-mail address.

Former FFA Members and Past State and National Officers: Include your name, your affiliation (chapter name and location [city and state] – or state association – and office held, if applicable) and e-mail address.

We would like to include regional favorites as well as recipes that chapters or state associations use for banquets or fundraisers. This will be a fantastic way to share recipes with fellow FFA members and alumni from Alaska to Puerto Rico and from Maine to Hawaii!

Submit your recipes (as many as you want!) to Voyageur Press by e-mail or U.S. Postal Service for receipt no later than November 1, 2008. Make sure to include all of the requested information.

Send e-mail recipe submissions to: amyg@mbipublishing.com.

Or, send your recipes via U.S. Postal Service to:

400 First Avenue North, Suite 300
Minneapolis, MN 55401

A food editor chosen by Voyageur Press and approved by National FFA will select the recipes to be included in the book. Contributors whose recipe(s) are selected for inclusion will be acknowledged in the book, and they will also receive a free copy of the cookbook as a thank-you.

The cookbook will be published and available for purchase in September 2009 with a retail price of $19.95. Additionally, Voyageur Press will provide any chapter, state association, state foundation or alumni affiliate the opportunity to purchase a quantity (11 or more copies) at a discount for fundraising purposes. For fundraising information and to place orders (starting in August 2009), contact Ms. Maurrie Salenger, Marketing Manager, Voyageur Press, msalenger@mbipublishing.com or 612-344-8154. At that time, Maurrie can supply you with a review copy and purchasing information.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you in advance for sharing this e-mail with FFA chapters and FFA members in your state and for sending us your favorite recipes. The FFA Cookbook would not be possible without the help of all the members, staff and Friends of FFA!

Sincerely,

Amy Glaser
